THE HISTORY Of MISSIONARY SISTERS Of MARY COMFORTER OF THE AFFLICTED.

The name of the congregation is Missionary Sisters of Mary Comforter of the Afflicted. The congregation started on 5th of February 2021, in the diocese of lssele-Uku, Delta State. The name of the foundress is Rev. Sr. Perpetua Chiedu Ejezie.
CHARISM: our charism is centered on the person and following of Christ. The sisters commit themselves to live the Gospel Life, in total imitation of Christ. Adoring Him in the Blessed Sacrament and with this burning love, serving Him through compassionate and holistic care of the disabled, mentally disordered less privilege according to the spirituality of St Benedict.

SPIRITUALLY: In the spirit of St Benedict, the Missionary Sisters of Mary Comforter of the Afflicted profess the Gospel counsel according to their Constitution, living in the community and sharing in the life and work of the congregation.

APOSTOLATE: The apostolate of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Comforter of the Afflicted, is to encounter and serve Christ through compassionate and holistic care of the mentally disordered, disabled, poor, empowerment of the youths, visiting the prisoners, widows and widowers.

The inspiration for the founding of the congregation came after the foundress reflection on the passion of Christ; while Jesus was carrying His cross to Calvary, His mother met Him and comforted Him. This meeting of Jesus and the mother brought inexpressible comfort to Jesus; the cross to Calvary. Our Lady is the one who comforted Her son, in His great affliction and that was how our name and icon came to be.

This meeting of Jesus and the Mother brought inexpressible comfort to Jesus, and He was strengthened to carry the Cross to Calvary.
